Approach

So often conditions arise in our lives which leave us feeling alone or afraid. We may feel stuck and disconnected from our experience. Such times can be stressful and overwhelming. You may be looking for some support and help in dealing with such situations. Psychotherapy and counselling enable people to feel better about themselves, and gain resources to address life’s challenges.  The most important variable in therapy is the healthy, reliable connection between client and therapist.  A good therapist will work to establish trust with a client by behaving with respect and compassion. I work with you in creating a supportive, trusting relationship, and provide a non-judgmental, safe and confidential space for you to reflect on and attempt new ways of relating to yourself and others.

I work primarily from a client-centered model and my therapeutic approach is eclectic, which means depending on the individual needs of my clients, I incorporate elements and therapy tools from various approaches like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Mindfulness based psychotherapy, Motivational Interviewing, etc. Above all, I emphasize the importance of a strong and compassionate therapeutic relationship. My approach to therapy involves a balance between helping a client explore past experiences and identifying how these experiences may be affecting them in the present. I often use culturally sensitive tools in my practice while working closely with my clients.

I work from within an anti-oppressive and anti-racist framework.
